Possibilities and Impossibilities of Sociocultural Dialogism in Spanish American Literature
Abstract
This essay tries to define the different spheres of relevance for
the Bakhtinian categories of dialogism, monologism and
polyphony as well as those of utterance, image and voice. The
author establishes the ranges and limitations of these notions in
order to study Spanish American narrative practices and
exemplifies the problems found in the study of the story
“Luvina” by Juan Rulfo.
